Journalism Class

Overall this class was a pretty interesting. I've learned that there is so much more to journalism than people really think. In this class, we learned what an actual journalist did and how they did. My favorite thing we wrote was a profile. Mainly this was my favorite because I got to write about my sister.

Another thing I liked about this class was the fact, we were't really judged on how we wrote and what we thought, but on what we thought. Also I really liked how we did fish bowl assignment. I liked how we voiced our opinions on what the farmers did and what they should do.

In my opinion, I believe that this was one of my favorite classes to go too. Not only because the teacher was nice and very easy to get along with but the people in the class made it the whole reason of why it was fun.

Goodbye to this class and to this blog. Class of 2015. :)

Michael Sam Drafted by the St. Louis Rams

On May 10th, Michael Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. People weren't angry that this openly gay man got drafted, but they were angry about what he did after he found out he was drafted. Michael Sam publicly kissed his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, on television after he found out he was drafted by the Rams.

People couldn't believe that ESPN allowed this on national television where children are watching. "I'm sorry but that Michael Sam is no bueno for doing that on national tv," former Super Bowl champion Derrick Ward tweeted. "Man U got little kids lookin at the draft. I can't believe ESPN even allowed that to happen," he added. By saying any of this Ward could be said to be anti-gay or against all gays. People don't understand how historical this moment in time is. By Michael Sam being the first NFL player to come out before the NFL draft and nationally kissing his boyfriend on national television after he found out he was finally drafted by someone makes him the most known football player. He knows how to be professional so don't give him crap for people able to stand up for what he believes in and show how much he loves his boyfriend. It doesn't matter how much people feel uncomfortable about this situation. It's happening whether they like it or not.

Kayla McAlister Rugby Player Used To Hate Practicing?

Kayla McAlister is one of women's best rugby players of all time. She has been playing since she was little with her brother and now is aiming to emulate him. You would think she always loved rugby since she's been playing it for so long, but when she was younger she used to hide under her bed to avoid training with her father and her brother. This doesn't mean she hated practicing or even hated the game rugby, but she didn't like practicing much.

McAlister is now wanting to set her goals to going to the Olympics and winning gold. Her dad, Charlie, former rugby league professional who played in England and Australia, that spotted New Zealand's Go4Gold campaign to lure young women players to the sevens ranks with the Olympics in mind, with this he gave his daughter a nudge to follow in her family's rugby roots.

The rugby star recalls, "I was terrible when I was younger," she admits. "Luke was a bit older than me so he and Dad were always out training.Dad would try to get me to train with them but I didn't want to. I wanted to hang out with my friends and that would have taken me away from my friends. So I tried to get out of it however I could, like hiding under my bed so they wouldn't find me."

It is interesting how this star wasn't really into this sport at the beginning, but now she wants to go to the Olympics and everything.

LA Clippers Owner a Racist?

Most people have been talking about the LA Clippers owner,Donald Sterling, and how he made racist remarks while speaking to his girlfriend. Donald Sterling said, "Don't bring black people to my games." These remarks are making the NBA investigate Sterling.

One of the NBA spokesman made a comment about this situation saying the comments made by Sterling were "disturbing and offensive."  If an NBA spokesman thinks this about these comments, what will the people investigating this situation think?

Many people like Michael Jordan are saying things like, "I will never go to a Clippers game as long as Donald Sterling is the owner." He also said Sterling's comments were "a black eye for the NBA" and that he felt bad that friends such as Doc Rivers and Clippers point guard Chris Paul who work for Sterling. You would think that Sterling would know better than to make these comments, but he still makes them thinking he's above the situation because of his money. Many people won't be going to a Clippers game because of the owner and are following Michael Jordan's opinion.

Another comment was made by the former Clipper's guard, Baron Davis, wrote on his Twitter saying that this discrimination has been going on for a long time. It's interesting how no one has reported these remarks if they have been going on for a long time. People are thinking too highly of him because he has a lot of money. They tend to believe that the more money a person has the more you can get away with. This makes you think: is there really any justice in the world?

Bubba Watson: Average Man

Bubba Watson is a professional golfer on the PGA tour, whose never really had a lesson with the game of golf. Most professionals belong to country clubs, but as for Watson, he's never really belonged to a country club or anything like that. It's unbelievable that a guy whose won two masters tournaments in 2012 and 2014 never really had a lesson.

During the day both Spieth and Watson were going in tied. Spieth immediately went up by two by the third hole.On the par-3 fourth came what was surely a Spieth spear through the heart -- a hole-out from the bunker for a birdie. Except Bubba matched his miracle with a big-stone birdie of his own.
On the par-3 sixth, Spieth bared his teeth again, hitting it to kick-in distance. Except Bubba matched it with a sensational two of his own. Then Bubba had some daggers of his own, birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 compared to Spieth's two bogeys. As he walked off the ninth green, Bubba and his buttoned-up collar had buttoned up a 2-shot lead that would hold up the rest of the day, despite Bubba's attempts to give it away on 15.

Tigers win opening day

The tigers played their opening day game with the royals on Monday March 31st. This was a very interesting game because at first the tigers were losing by two in the 5th inning but in the 7th inning they ended up tying the game. In the 9th inning they ended up winning by one which made the game end at 4-3 with the tigers winning.

Disappointment For Both Michigan Teams

Many different people from Michigan were very disappointed that their team did not win their games this weekend. Michigan was so close, Kentucky 75 and Michigan 72, by three little points. Just one basket and they would have been tied for the game. This game was very disappointed for the Wolverines.

As for state, they lost by 6 points. This was a horrible game to watch because they were up by 4 until the second half happened and they kind of gave up at the point. It sucks to know both of our home teams are our of the NCA tournament but at least Wisconsin from the the all ten conference team is still in the running for the win. Lets go Badgers.

Jose Iglesias out for the season

Detroit Tigers, shortstop Jose Iglesias has significant injuries to both shins that are expected to keep him out at least until the All-Star break and could force him to miss most or all of the 2014 season. This  makes most people think that this player being missing will ruin the tigers this year. This new short stop will most likely someone will be brought up or they will do a trade. My thoughts on this topic is that the tigers will still be a great team without Iglesias for the time being, even though he'll be missed by the players and the fans.

Steve Nash wanting just the money?

Steve Nash plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. He has one year left on his contract with them. The two-time MVP and future Hall of Famer has battled with leg and back injuries all season, leading to widespread discussion among fans and media that he should hang it up. Nash doesn't seen it this way. According to USA today he says, "The reality is, I’m not going to retire because I want the money."

Most people are shocked that he even said this. The player doesn't play for the fans, but "he plays for money and money only?" Does this mean the fans mean nothing to him? In my opinion, I believe he only cares about how much can he make. He is 40 years old and all he cares about is the money. This is a shocking interview with the basketball player.

Michigan State vs. Michigan

Michigan state and Michigan colleges both have this indescribable rivalry. This makes students from these colleges feel more hatred towards each other because of the schools they go too. Football, basketball, and every sport makes everyone feel uneasy during this time. For 60 years, Michigan State University and University of Michigan have fought for the honor of hosting the Paul Bunyan Trophy, which goes to whichever team wins the rivalry each year. The main reason of their rivalry is because Michigan voted against Michigan state being in the big ten conference in 1953 and 1955. This makes me think that this rivalry could be have been prevented if they voted yes.

Winter Olympics 2014

The winter Olympics have been going on since the began on February 7th, 2014. The 2014 winter Olympics
consisted of twelve events. These twelve events are the men and women's ski half-pipe, men and women's  ski slope-style, men and women's snowboard slope-style, snowboard parallel slalom, women's ski jumping, biathlon mixed relay, figure skiing team event, and lastly luge team relay. Each of these events have three places for winning them gold, silver and bronze. The countries that are in the winter Olympics are Russia, Norway, Canada, United States, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. Russia is leading with 33 metals then Norway with 26 following Canada with 25. The United States has 28 metals, but since Norway and Canada have more gold metals they are ahead of the United States. These games were very excited to watch and i'm sure were all looking forward to the summer Olympics, which begin on August 5th, 2016 located in Rio.

Michael Sam Coming Out?

Michael Sam came out to the world that he was gay and proud. Sam didn't want any rumors to get out that he was gay, but  he wanted to tell the people from the NFL himself. He was the first player to come out before his career started rather than after it was completed. Most people tend to think that this topic is irreverent to society because it's not going to affect anyone. He's going to be professional about it like, he told ESPN. Michael Sam is supported by millions of people these days because of how good he plays and for the fact that he is gay. His situation should be important to everyone because it's the first NFL player to say he is gay even though many people may not care about his sexuality.

Wyoming Wolves Bowling Team.

Yesterday, at 3:30 pm Ryan Razo on the Wyoming Bowling team ended up bowling a 300. This was Razo's first perfect game ever. He is actually one of the youngest people to roll a perfect game. Razo bowls 4th on his bowling team. The boys team that he is on, is second in their conference. To become first they need to win first place in Post-Conference coming up next Saturday. These boys are a great bunch of kids that deserve to win first in conference like the Wyoming girls bowling team. The girls have won every one of their conference matches against Sparta, Allendale, Belding, and Cooperville. These girls are hoping to win first place tomorrow at their Saturday Hudsonville Tournament and be on television for the 3rd time in a row.

Superbowl Results

For all of those people betting on the broncos, they were very disappointed on February 2nd, 2014 in New Jersey. From the beginning of the game, the Seahawks were destroying the Broncos. Everytime the Broncos got close to scoring the Seahawks would stop them somehow. These results ended in a 43 to 8 game(Fox New). Seahawks with 43 and the Broncos with 8 points. This game was very disappointing in my opinion because it was very boring. From the beginning of the game when the Seahawks scored 22 points in the first two quarters you pretty much knew they were going to win. The Broncos playing was very horrible on their part. Was it because the players nervous because of it was their first Superbowl? or is because that were just up against in a really tough team?

Superbowl

The Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday. The Denver Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks in the super bowl XLVIII. The game is scheduled for February 2nd 2014. The Seattle Seahawks football team have won the super bowl zero times. This would be the first win at the super bowl for the Seahawks at super bowl 48. The Broncos have been in three super bowls counting this one. They were in 1997 and 1998 also. The broncos won the super bowl only one time before, they won this super bowl in 1997 against the packers. Most people are favoring the Broncos to win because they have won it before, but you will never know who will win until you tune in to the game on February 2nd, 2014.

Who am I?

You may ask why I'm here writing this blog. I sit here writing this blog for school. I'm sixteen years old born on March 14th, 1997. I decided to write about sports, because I felt like that i needed to deal with something I have passion for. Sports are probably my passion, because of my love for bowling. Bowling is one of my main loves because its there for me when no one else is. I feel that bowling makes me happy when i'm improving the most because who wouldn't be happy improving at something they love. Most people think "oh sports isn't that something a guy should write about?" No because girls do sports just as much as boys do. This may be one of my favorite things to write about because it's nothing to do with opinions or anything. Sports are about the facts and that's that.
